The Pilot program entails the design and construction of Net-Zero Energy Homes on RNLA-owned vacant lots in South Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. The development of these Net-Zero h9omes is made possible with Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funds made available by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), through the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD). Our 1200 SF, 3bd, 2 ba, Net-Zero homes include energy saving features and devices to lower the average daily energy load such that, the total daily kilowatt and thermal needs can be entirely met by our onsite renewable energy system. The onsite energy system includes solar photovoltaic and solar thermal components to produce the kilowatts needed to provide the average daily energy needs of the home. Our homes run entirely on electrical power and do not require any gas for heating or cooking. We are currently completing the Construction Documents and expect to begin construction in Early Spring of 2012.
